The Steam Deck has been out for some time now. With the thousands of games available on Valve’s digital storefront, many of them fall into a specific grading system where green marks indicate perfect playability, yellow games are playable with some extra steps, games incompatible with Steam Deck, and untested games (games that haven’t been properly tested yet). You’ll be able to view your library versus Steam Deck compatibility here, which leads us to today’s topic.

Earlier today, A Plague Tale: Requiem was added to Steam Deck’s compatibility, and will be playable with little to no issues. A few months ago, the game saw a patch to add in ray tracing, and has notably fewer performance drops compared to other titles. The announcement was made on Twitter, which you can see below.

A Plague Tale: Requiem joins games like Devil May Cry 5, Risk of Rain 2, Windjammers 2, and other titles to be fully functional on the hardware. Considering the fact that the game has built-in controller support, it’s likely that contributes to its Steam Deck compatibility. The fact that more titles are becoming verified on Steam Deck is excellent for the hardware, as it lets you play more of your games on the go with little issue.

The conversation about performance is pretty telling with this game. In the above announcement, replies and reactions show various users asking the development team to release a 60fps patch for consoles. As of now, the game is locked to 30fps on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series (or 40fps on 120Hz TVs or monitors).

In our review of A Plague Tale: Requiem, we said the following:

A Plague Tale: Requiem is a faithful follow-up to the first outing, managing to expand in every way while staying true to what made the first great. With solid gameplay, a fantastic story that's excellently acted and presented, and set pieces that could challenge even the biggest game in the industry, if you like the first outing from Asobo Studio, you will love this.

We’ll continue to update as more information is released on A Plague Tale: Requiem, including updates, DLC, trailers, and more. A Plague Tale: Requiem is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. You can purchase a Steam Deck from Valve’s website.
