Acer Debuts Newer But 'Pricier' BiFrost And Nitro Editions: New Radeon RX 9070 GPUs With Up To 3.1 GHz Clocks & 340W TDP 1

Acer launches six new models of the Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards, featuring base and OC models with up to 3.1 GHz of boost clocks.

AMD's board partner, Acer, has unveiled a brand-new lineup of RDNA 4 GPUs, introducing newer BiFrost and Nitro editions. The company has been making AMD cards for a while but isn't as active as some of the core AMD board partners. This time, it came up with six models for the GPUs, three for each.

The lineup includes two Nitro editions for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070, respectively, and one BiFrost edition for each of these GPUs. The BiFrost editions deliver Acer's best aesthetics and cooling solution, while Nitro is aimed at a more mainstream market, but still offers competitive specifications.

Starting with the BiFrost editions, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB brings a triple-fan cooling solution with a stylish shroud and silverfish accents around the middle fan. The cooler brings the FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans and a counter-spin design for maximizing heat dissipation. It measures roughly 295 mm in length and is 2.5-slot thick. Factory-overclocked up to 3.1 GHz, the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC is ready for a high-performance gaming experience.

The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB is also pretty much identical in design but features two 8-pin power connectors instead of three on the XT card. Surprisingly, both cards are rated at 340W, even though the RX 9070 by default needs noticeably less power. Technically, two 8-pin power connectors along with the PCI-E x16 slot will be sufficient to supply 340W of power, but it doesn't have enough room for overclocking like the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC.

The next is the Acer Nitro series, bringing both non-OC and OC models for each of the RX 9070 series cards. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC is a triple-fan GPU, features up to 3.1 GHz of boost clock, measures a 2.5-slot as well, and is identical in length to the BiFrost edition. It, too, is powered by three 8-pin power connectors and features 340W of TDP. On the other hand, the non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT is rated at 304W but retains all three 8-pin power connectors. Since it's a non-OC card, it can go up to 2970 MHz in boost and up to 2.4 GHz in game mode.

The next two are the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB editions, featuring clocks of up to 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz respectively. The OC model is rated at 245W while the non-OC is at 220W but shares an identical design.

While Acer hasn't revealed the pricing of all the GPUs, it says that the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB will be priced at a staggering US$829.99. That said, expect the BiFrost edition to be even more expensive. Acer hasn't informed us about the availability of these cards but the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC will be available in April in the US.
