AMD's flagship Strix Point CPU, the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395, delivers impressive single & multi-core scores as seen in CPU mark tests.
AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Comes Out Noticeably Faster Than Core i9 14900HX but Loses to Ryzen 9 7945HX in CPU Mark; Still Manages to Beat Both in Single Core Performance
AMD's first Strix Point-based device, ASUS ROG Flow Z13, was released a week ago, and we saw how it dominated existing APUs in both CPU and GPU benchmarks. Even though Strix Halo is specially crafted for leading iGPU performance, it's as strong as the fastest mobile CPUs in productivity.
The AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395, which boasts identical specs to the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, was recently tested in the CPU Mark. The CPU Mark benchmark is usually used to compare CPUs against one another in raw single and multi-threaded performance. Even though it doesn't exactly translate to similar performance in individual applications, it is still decently reliable for comparing CPUs with a single score.
The user @x86deadandback posted a screenshot of the page on X, revealing 49,510 points scored by the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 CPU. In the single-core test, it scored 4,323 points. The post has been removed from X, but we still have the screenshot, confirming the same.
Comparing these scores with the previous-generation Intel and AMD mobile flagship CPUs, we found that the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 is about 8.6% faster than the Core i9 14900HX (24 core/32 thread) and is equivalent in single-core performance.
Compared to the Ryzen 9 7945HX, which is also a 16-core/32-thread CPU, the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 loses by 10.7% but is 6% faster in single-core performance. Not necessarily very impressive against one of its direct competitors from the previous gen, but considering the Radeon 8060S is too ahead of the Radeon 610M, the Ryzen AI Max+ 395/ Pro 395 is excellent for both types of workloads (productivity and gaming).

Another interesting thing to note is that the memory configuration mentioned by the leaker indicates that it is LPDDR5X-8533 MT/s from SK Hynix. The total system RAM is 63 GB as shown on the page, but the memory speed isn't revealed as said by the leaker. Still, it's not a big surprise as Strix Halo does support up to 8533 MT/s of LPDDR5X memory.
Up until now, there is just the ROG Flow Z13 that has been released with one of the Strix Halo CPUs and the Pro variants are yet to hit the market. Devices with these CPUs should be ready in the next couple of months and will deliver powerful CPU and GPU computing prowess.
