AMD's Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D have finally surfaced on Geekbench, revealing impressive generational improvements in single-core and multi-core benchmarks.
AMD's Upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU Is Ready To Disrupt The High-End CPU Segment, Featuring Impressive Performance Upgrades
For those unaware, the 9800X3D isn't the only Zen 5-based 3D V-Cache processor that AMD planned to release, as at CES 2025, the company unveiled the Ryzen 9 9950X3D & 9900X3D, targeted towards bringing top-notch performance. While AMD did show us the performance expected by these models, we didn't really see them in synthetic environments; however, now, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and the 9900X3D have been spotted on Geekbench, showing promising results.
The CPUs were tested with Gigabyte's X670 AORUS ELITE AX, which has 32 GB DDR5 memory onboard. Before we dive into the specifics of the CPUs, here is how both single-core and multi-core scores have turned out compared to other entrants in AMD's "3D V-Cache" lineup. This will definitely help us see how far performance has increased between generations.
Geekbench 6.3 (Higher is Better)

The above figures clearly show that AMD's Ryzen 9950X3D and the 9900X3D CPUs have managed to bring in an average of 15% performance difference in single-core benchmarks, when compared against previous-gen counterparts. However, in multi-core, the performance hasn't increased as much, seeing a notable average difference of around 7%. The 9950X3D definitely lags in multi-core testing right now, but it is important to note that these aren't the final results since these numbers tend to change after the official launch.

In terms of specifications, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D features 16 cores and 32 threads with two CCDs and a single IO die, offering up to 144 MB of total cache. That's 64 MB from the Zen 5 CCDs and 64 MB from the X3D stack. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D CPU has a 12-core/24 threads configuration, offering a total cache of up to 140 MB. It was previously claimed that in gaming performance, the newer Ryzen 9 models won't be much different from the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Team Red is rumored to launch the new Ryzen 9 "X3D" CPUs alongside the RDNA 4 GPU series, creating the ultimate package for consumers. We can expect a showcase either by the end of February or early March.
