The Los Angeles fires have left a patch of devastation, with nearly 180,000 residents being forced to evacuate. Being termed the costliest natural disaster to have ever struck the U.S., an estimated loss of $135 billion has already piled up, with authorities saying that more than 5,000 structures have been destroyed. In the wake of these astronomical damages, paying off any outstanding bills must be the last thought on people's minds. Where other institutions would typically capitalize on this opportunity, Apple Card users have been granted some relief, with a recent update stating that these individuals can delay their payments, with Goldman Sachs aiding in the matter.
Eligible Apple Card users can enroll in the latest program through the Messages app, where they must talk to the support team
While it is noble of the technology giant to let Apple Card users delay their payments, this limited-time service comes with a set of conditions. With the update received from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, AppleInsider reports that eligible people can enroll through the program using the Messages app, where they must speak with Apple Card Support personnel.
Those affected by the Los Angeles fires can skip a monthly payment, and no interest will be charged during this period. However, the Apple Card account needs to be healthy in terms of regular payments. Accounts that are past due will not go further past due for the duration of the program enrollment. Also, if a user’s spending is restricted for whatever reason, it will remain restricted for the program’s duration.

As for the previously scheduled payments, those will be processed as normal, unless that payment has been canceled via Apple Wallet, online, or with the help of an Apple Card Specialist. There is no update on how long this program will remain active, but we expect users to obtain some hefty relief as they try to shift to temporary homes in the wake of this calamity.
