Today, Apple has seen fit to release its first beta of iOS 18.5, visionOS 2.5 and macOS Sequoia 15.5 to developers for testing purposes. The latest beta comes a few days after Apple released the final build of iOS 18.4 to the public, which brought a handful of notable features to the iPhone, including Priority Notifications, and much more. You can download the latest beta on your iPhone and Mac right now for free through the Settings app.
Apple releases beta 1 of iOS 18.5, macOS 15.5, visionOS 2.5, and a handful of additional updates to developers
As mentioned, Apple has seeded the first beta of iOS 18.5 to developers, which can be downloaded through the Settings app on your iPhone. However, before you proceed to install the beta, you have to make sure that your Apple ID is connected to your Developer Account, which will allow you to receive the update over the air. Once you do that, head over to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates > and install the latest version. iPadOS 18.5 beta 1 has also been released to developers, which can be installed through the same mechanism.
Apart from iOS 18.5, Apple has also released macOS Sequoia 15.5 beta 1 to developers, which can be installed on all compatible Macs through the Software Update mechanism in System Settings. You have to ensure that your Apple ID and Developer Account are linked to receive the update over the air.
visionOS 2.5 beta 1 is also out for developers and can be installed through the Settings app on the Vision Pro headset, with the same prerequisites of linking the Developer Account to your Apple ID. The company has also released watchOS 11.5 and tvOS 18.5 beta 1 to developers.
As of right now, it is too early to know what Apple has added in the latest updates, but based on past trends, the builds will include bug fixes and performance enhancements which will make the user experience more fluid and free of any issues, unless the update itself brings some to the table. We will let you know more about iOS 18.5 and the rest of the updates as soon as developers are done tinkering with the latest build. Do you think the updates will include any major Apple Intelligence features for the iPhone, Mac, and the Vision Pro headset?
