ASRock Z890 Taichi Motherboard Offers Support Up To 9200 MT/s Speeds For 1DPC 1R DDR5 Memory, BCLK Overclocking 1

Upcoming Z890 motherboards will support faster memory out of the box, which is what the ASRock Z890 Taichi specs revealed.

Up To 9200 MT/s DDR5 memory support in overclock mode, the ASRock Z890 Taichi shows drastic improvement in memory configuration

We are almost one month away from the Arrow Lake CPU launch, and motherboard makers will also officially launch their Z890 chipset motherboards. Before that, we already have a sneak peek into what you can expect from the Z890 motherboards, at least in terms of memory support. You can check out our full coverage of several ASRock Z890 motherboards from Computex here.

The popular leaker @momomo_us has posted a picture on the X platform, revealing the memory configuration support for the ASRock Z890 Taichi motherboard. At the moment, you won't find the official motherboard product page, so the leaked pic is the only source at the moment, which sheds light on some important information.

It's mentioned that the motherboard will support 5600 MT/s of memory speed naively in 1 DIMM per Channel for both Single and Dual-rank memory modules. However, the frequency support in 1 DIMM per Channel for Single Rank memories is 9200+ MT/s in OC mode. The Arrow Lake IMC has received a significant uplift in memory support if we compare it with the 14th & 13th Gen CPUs.

ASRock Z790 Taichi memory configuration

For instance, the ASRock Z790 Taichi supports up to 7200+ MT/s in OC and 4800 MT/s naively on 1DPC 1R configuration. While the native support increased by 800 MT/s on the Z890, the maximum frequency support has increased by 2000 MT/s. For other memory configurations too, the support is now better than ever. The 1DPC 2R can now support 800 MT/s higher frequency with overclock and 1200 MT/s higher clock natively.

For 2 DIMM per Channel configuration with Single Rank modules, the Z890 Taichi supports 6800+ MT/s in OC and 4800 MHz natively. Again a good 800 MT/s uplift over its predecessor. For the 2DPC 2R configuration, the native support is 4400 MT/s and 5800+ MT/s with overclock, which is a 1200 MT/s and 1000 MT/s increase in clocks compared to Z790 Taichi.

One more thing to notice is that the specs also explicitly state the support for Arrow Lake processors:

Supports Intel Core Ultra Processors (Series 2) (LGA1851RL-ILM)

The naming convention has not been revealed by Intel yet but just like Lunar Lake, Intel is also going to call the Arrow Lake 'Core Ultra Processors Series 2'. The Z890 motherboards will be equipped with the latest Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) 3.0x to ensure the memories can reach their advertised clock speeds without much hassles.

In addition to that, ASRock also offers the Hyper BCLK engine on its Taichi motherboard which should allow for Non-K OC but ASRock will need to get the approval of this feature since Intel has restricted Non-K OC for quite some time.

Several motherboard manufacturers have prepared their Z890 motherboards for the launch and among them are ASUS and Gigabyte, which have registered all of their Z890 motherboards on EEC recently.
