ASUS BETA BIOS 1202 For AM5 Motherboards - Offers Optimizations For Ryzen 9 9950X3D & 9900X3D, Also Adds AI Cache Boost 1

ASUS's latest BETA BIOS for its AM5 motherboards optimizes the performance of upcoming AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D & 9900X3D 3D V-Cache CPUs.

ASUS BETA BIOS Rolled Out on AM5 Motherboards for Improved System Performance, Introduces AI Cache Boost Feature & Ready For AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D CPUs

As we move closer to the launch of AMD Ryzen 9 9000X3D 3D V-Cache CPUs, AMD and its board partners have started early preparations to offer maximum support for these chips. As of now, some motherboard makers, like MSI and ASRock, have already rolled out new BIOSes to support the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D and ASUS is about to join the list soon.

Even though the new BIOSes are still in the early phase, they will now offer better support for these high-end X3D CPUs along with improved system performance that should enhance compatibility with system RAM. As of now, the company has released BETA BIOSes for various 600 and 800 "AM5" series motherboards that now incorporate these updates.

For AMD X870 chipset motherboards, ASUS has rolled out the Beta BIOS 1202. For other chipsets, the new updates include Beta BIOS 2902 for X670, Beta BIOS 1021 for B850, and Beta BIOS 3221 for B650 Motherboards. These BIOSes can be downloaded for all different families, including ROG Crosshair, ROG Strix, TUF, and ProArt series.

With these BIOS versions, the system stability and performance should be optimized in systems using the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D. Moreover, some users are reporting better memory optimizations on AMD AM5 motherboards already, allowing them to achieve somewhat better performance.

Another significant update the new Beta BIOSes brought is the inclusion of AI Cache Boost, which is a new option users can find in their BIOS interface. What exactly it does is not clear, but it might be somewhat useful for dual CCD X3D chips like the Ryzen 9900X3D and 9950X3D.

AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9950X3D 3D V-Cache CPUs both bring 128 MB of total L3 cache through a dedicated 3D V-Cache chiplet installed underneath one of the CCDs. These CPUs are the successors of the Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 7950X3D, bringing the same core/thread configuration but with newer Zen 5 architecture and better clocks.

It's already known from various reports that these processors will bring comparable gaming performance to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D but will be much superior in productivity. We have already seen recently the Ryzen 9 9950X3D's performance in a synthetic benchmark, which trades blows with its non-X3D counterpart. The CPUs are expected to be released on 12th March, just a week after AMD launches its RDNA 4 GPUs for sale.
