Intel XeSS2 Official: Brings Frame Generation For 3.9x Perf & Low Latency Mode For Smoother Gaming, First Titles Announced 1

Intel's XeSS2 Frame Generation & Low Latency files are now accessible to the public as the blue team preps for the next chapter of its upscaling tech.

Intel's XeSS2 Upscaling Technology Will Debut With Enhanced Features, Targeted Towards Providing An Optimal Experience

Team Blue, with the release of their new Battlemage "Xe2" discrete GPUs, announced the "XeSS2" technology as well, which is said to act as a viable alternative to AMD's FSR 2 and NVIDIA's DLSS 3 software stacks.

With XeSS2, Team Blue disclosed that they would bring in frame generation and low-latency mode options for consumers, but after the announcement, we haven't seen an update until now. Nexus Mods have apparently "dug out" DLL files for XeSS-FG and XeSS-LL before the official distribution, which shows that Team Blue is carrying out enablement work in full force.

Nexus Mods have uploaded the DLL files as "up-to-date" plugins, and they likely got access to the files through the work done by Intel in providing support for XeSS2 to titles out there. On official forums, Intel has yet to release content for XeSS2, and the latest update by the firm was the SDK 1.3.1, released five months ago. The technology is expected to be compatible with all Intel Arc GPUs for now, and given the record of Intel's original XeSS, we expect the next version to debut with even more enhanced performance.

Diving into what to expect with Intel's XeSS2, the feature brings up to 3.9x the performance uplift in Ultra Performance mode in 1440p Ultra gaming scenarios with GPUs such as Intel's Arc B580. With Xe-LL and Xe-FG, gamers can expect noticeable differences in their gaming experience, and the technology will act as a great alternative to other mainstream solutions. Team Blue has announced support for ten titles with XeSS2, so it is only a matter of time before wider compatibility rolls out.

We aren't certain of a release date yet, but since Intel's development of XeSS2 seems to be in the final stages, we can expect the technology to arrive by Q1 2025, if not the end of this quarter.
