Camera manufacturers working with smartphone manufacturers are nothing new, to be honest. We have seen several collaborations over the past couple of years, and while some worked well, the others did not pan out in the same way. Now, Canon has become the next company that wants to collaborate with a smartphone company.
According to a reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, Canon is looking forward to collaborating with a smartphone manufacturer. This could mean that there is a possibility that we might see Canon branding on a smartphone in the future.
Canon should work with Nothing for the upcoming Nothing Phone 2
Now, all of this sounds interesting, but at the time of writing, we are unsure which smartphone manufacturer would team up with Canon. It cannot be Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, or OnePlus, since these companies have already partnered with Leika, Zeiss, and Hasselblad. This means that We now have Apple, Samsung, Asus, Google, Honor, Huawei, Motorola, Nothing, and Realme as possible candidates. However, we do know that Apple and Samsung would never go that route. We also know that it cannot be Sony because Sony already is a camera manufacturer, so that leaves at least 6 contenders.
So, there isn't much for those wondering what comes with a camera company collaboration. You get some tuning, along with some color profiles and other similar additions, but it is not enough to revolutionize the smartphone experience, and this is the main reason why big companies don't need to partner up with camera manufacturers to improve their cameras. This is why I have a strong reason to believe that Samsung or Apple, and even Google are not going to partner with Canon. For some reason, the most likely candidate, at least for me, is Nothing, and considering how Nothing Phone 2 is scheduled for later this year, we might also see that happening.
Honestly, I am not sure how this Canon collaboration is going to go, but I really hope it is Nothing. I can actually consider both companies being beneficial to each other. Here is hoping that we get some more information soon. We will keep you posted as there is more information that surfaces. Let us know what company you would like to collaborate with Canon in the comments below.
