NVIDIA's RTX 4090 with 48 GB VRAM not only exists, but it is also selling for a lower price than its successor and has AIO installed.

Chinese Vendor Sells RTX 4090 48 GB Edition for $3400; Card Reveals a Triple Fan Design with Radiator Installed

Not long ago, we reported about a Chinese manufacturer working on a 96 GB edition of the GeForce RTX 4090. Unlike the RTX 4090 24 GB, the 96 GB edition is rumored to be aimed at AI workloads, since higher memory is a crucial need in such tasks. However, the 48 GB RTX 4090 already exists on the Chinese market, and a few manufacturers have already started to sell it.

One of those was spotted on Reddit, revealing the design and the confirmation of 48 GB VRAM on the GPU. The Reddit user u/CeFurkan shared a few pics on the platform, where one can see the RTX 4090 with AIO installed and has a triple fan cooling solution apart from the radiator. Not only the box but the radiator clearly mentions "GeForce RTX 4090 48 GB".

The cooler is from BYKSI, a brand that deals in PC hardware cooling solutions. You can also see the 48 GB memory size in the Task Manager and the same can also be seen in GPU-Z software. Every other spec reveals that it is indeed an RTX 4090, including the AD102 GPU die, GDDR6X memory, and 16384 CUDA Cores. Although the GPU brings 48 GB of GDDR6X memory capacity, the memory bandwidth will be unaffected due to the same memory speed and bus width of 384-bit.

However, the higher memory capacity allows it to deliver superior performance in specific and memory-intensive workloads. Since the AI boom has created a huge demand for higher capacity memory, GPU manufacturers have been producing special editions such as the RTX 4090 with higher capacity than they originally shipped with. This edition by no means offers superior performance to the RTX 4090 24 GB in gaming though.

Coming to pricing, the GeForce RTX 4090 48 GB is supposedly priced at $3400, and even though it is more expensive than the GeForce RTX 5090, you can hardly find the latter at its MSRP and will most likely pay an equivalent or higher price, especially for the AIO edition. As for the 96 GB edition, the GPU isn't finalized yet but there is a possibility we may see the 96 GB edition soon if the previous reports are true.
