Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge could officially go on sale in May

Samsung was earlier reported to set the Galaxy S25 Edge launch date in April, but the latest report not only reveals when the Korean giant will unveil its new flagship but also provides details on when the device will officially go on sale, which is May. Unfortunately, there might not be sufficient supply for everyone because the company targets a low production volume, at least during the initial launch phase.

Initial volume of the Galaxy S25 Edge barely crosses the 0.1 percent share of Samsung’s monthly smartphone production of its flagship range; the company might want to test market reception before boosting output

Some crucial details published on Sedaily that were spotted by the tipster @Jukanlosreve state that the Galaxy S25 Edge will be unveiled on April 16, with the sleek flagship expected to go on sale sometime in May. As you would have guessed, the pricing information was not divulged, but the report mentions that the handset will be more affordable than the Galaxy S25 Ultra but pricier than the base Galaxy S25.

Three colors will reportedly be offered for the Galaxy S25 Edge; light blue, black, and silver, but Samsung is targeting a low initial production volume of just 40,000 units. For a company that is eyeing total shipments of 37 million units from its Galaxy S25 family for 2025, the Galaxy S25 Edge will only make up a little over 0.1 percent of the tally. Samsung may want to monitor how well the market responds to the launch, and if demand picks up, the company will simply ask its suppliers to pick up production accordingly.

A miniature hands-on video uploaded to YouTube that was shortly removed from the platform revealed that the Galaxy S25 Edge will feature the same thickness as one-half of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It appears that the device will have a limited audience as only a handful of customers will be attracted towards its slim chassis, but to obtain these dimensions, Samsung had to make compromises in the battery capacity and limit the rear cameras to two instead of three.

Thankfully, a leaked benchmark revealed that Samsung will still equip the Galaxy S25 Edge with the Snapdragon 8 Elite coupled with 12GB RAM, so on the performance front, the company will flaunt the best possible internals. We will revisit how the handset performs globally and provide updates regarding its success, so stay tuned.
