Earlier this month, Google started rolling out the Wear OS 5.1 update for Pixel Watch devices, which includes the Pixel Watch 3 and models, with the LTE version getting the update last week. The update is meant to bring some significant improvements and several new capabilities to improve the overall experience of the wearable. Still, users have been reporting issues with the latest update, and it seems they are getting delayed notifications. Google has responded to the ongoing concerns and put a rest to them by assuring users that the issue is under investigation.
Google assures Pixel Watch users about fixing some bugs experienced in the recent Wear OS 5.1 update
Google recently released the Wear OS 5.1 update for the Pixel Watch 3 and its predecessor, which brings some key features and upgrades, including the loss of pulse detection for US users. However, what is meant to improve the user experience has turned into a nuisance with the ongoing issues. The bugs experienced vary from delays in notification to occasional app crashes and overall performance lags.
After many dismayed users reported the problem with the Wear OS 5.1 update for Pixel Watches on Reddit, Google took notice of the issue and acknowledged that it was aware some of the users were having to deal with bugs and assured them that a fix for the ongoing hiccup is on its way. A Google spokesperson shared the following statement with Android Authority:
We’re aware of an issue affecting a very small number of Pixel Watch users, where they are experiencing delayed notifications on their device after taking the March update. We are currently investigating the situation, and to address it as quickly as possible – we’ll share more details when a fix is ready.
As per Google's statement, the bug seems to affect a few people, but users who have filed multiple complaints suggest that the issue goes beyond delayed notifications. They have been dealing with difficulties syncing with Fitbit and editing watch faces. While the official fix seems to be in progress, some users have shared the workarounds that worked for them. These include resetting the device or even going for a full factory reset, which has helped resolve the problem.
Until an official patch is released, users may have to deal with inconsistent performance. Google needs to be more vigilant about its software testing process so that such bugs are generally found during internal testing.
