Huawei gives away global launch date of Mate XT Ultimate

The foldable market is getting more intense, especially with the growing number of companies working on introducing new form factors and experimenting with the category. While Samsung pioneered in the industry and remains the leader, Huawei seems to be making its mark and gaining momentum. As various tech giants have been planning on launching a tri-fold, Huawei took everyone by surprise and introduced its Mate XT Ultimate Design last year, making it the first available tri-fold phone in the market.

Mate XT Ultimate was initially launched in China, but users have long been anticipating its wider availability. Well, we are glad to report that the company has now announced the global launch date of the groundbreaking device.

Huawei has finally given away the global launch window for its highly anticipated tri-fold Mate XT Ultimate

There is no denying that the tri-fold seems to be the next big thing when it comes to the foldable market, especially with Samsung also working on bringing its own tri-fold phone in 2025. Huawei, however, took the lead by introducing the first-ever tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT Ultimate, in September 2024 in China. The company has since been teasing about the wider availability of this innovative device, but it has not been until now that the date has been given away.

Huawei took it to X (formerly Twitter) to share a teaser video that featured the Mate XT Ultimate alongside the Mate X6, as both phones are to come out in 2025. The video ended with the Innovate Product Launch date, which is February 18, and the event is expected to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. While the company did not share other details regarding which countries the tri-fold would be available in and the pricing information, the global launch date has us excited about the phone finally being more widely available in merely a two-week time frame.

The Mate XT Ultimate, now headed for a global release, would be a major step in the foldable industry and push others to escalate their introduction of tri-fold options. Users seem to be intrigued to try this new form factor, and while we are yet to see how the phone would do in terms of sales in other regions, the positive reception in China, where the projected shipments had to be revised to meet up with demand, does give us a hint about the potential consumer interest. We expect the company to maintain the premium pricing of around $2,800, but more concrete details will emerge when the tri-fold is extensively available.
