A few hours passed since we reported on the tipster @URedditor informing his Twitter audience that the iPhone 16 series would feature two major upgrades that have not been talked about before. A while after that tweet went out and we are met with another update, one that talks about the display sizes, code numbers, and last, but certainly not least, the periscope camera upgrades.
New information states exactly what earlier reports claim; the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will receive display size increases, up to 6.9 inches, along with other changes
Like Apple’s previous launches, it plans to unveil two ‘Pro’ models next year, but this time, the company is rumored to increase the display sizes. We have talked about this previously, where the iPhone 16 Pro would sport a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which could also be called the iPhone 16 Ultra, would have a larger 6.9-inch panel. However, @URedditor says that the figures we are reading are rough dimensions, meaning that the actual number could be slightly different, but he has yet to share those details.
The iPhone 16 Pro has the model identifier D93, while D94 identifies the ‘Pro Max’ variant. Unfortunately, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are said to be retained at the same display sizes as their direct predecessors, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, so 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively. Coming to the cameras, both the 2024 ‘Pro’ models are said to feature a periscope zoom lens, so Apple’s loyal customers will not be forced to spend extra to upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro Max as they will be for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple is working on two Pro models
for the iPhone 16 series, with increased display panel sizes (the actual display area is a bit smaller):D93 - 6.3”
D94 - 6.9”
Both models are set to feature the new periscope lens, unlike the 15 lineup where it’s restricted to the Pro Max.

Whether or not Apple intends to improve the sensor hiding behind that periscope zoom lens or the actual lens hardware is anyone’s guess. However, when talking about the main camera, Apple could introduce a larger 1/1.14-inch physical sensor next year, compared to the 1/1.28-inch unit it currently uses. Strange enough, the tipster has provided so much information for the 2024 ‘Pro’ models and nothing for the regular versions, indicating that just like before, Apple is incorporating more exclusive features to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max and will likely charge its customers a premium.
