New Baldur's Gate 3 scam for the iPhone

Larian Studios hit a home run in 2023 when it launched Baldur’s Gate 3 for multiple platforms, with even our review stating that it was one of the best games that we had ever immersed ourselves in. Of course, its popularity means that those who do not own a gaming PC or a console will contemplate if it will ever arrive on other platforms such as iOS or iPadOS. Unfortunately, there are some unsuspecting iPhone owners around who are being lured into the latest scam, which forces them to download a fake version of Baldur’s Gate 3 and get them to pay a subscription.

Baldur’s Gate 3 – Mobile Turuk is currently listed on Apple’s App Store, and unsurprisingly, it has garnered a 1-star rating

Even though there was a rumor doing the rounds that Baldur’s Gate 3 will arrive for the iPad Pro this year, the developer has not promised us such a launch. For those currently checking out Baldur’s Gate 3 – Mobile Turuk because they firmly believe that it is an official iOS port available on the App Store, Videogamer has reported that it is just another scam designed to force gullible players into thinking that they will immerse themselves into the real deal.

As reported by AppleInsider, the app uses screenshots from the original Baldur’s Gate 3 and has placed a fake mobile interface on top, which will likely convince iPhone owners to download the application immediately. However, what actually happens is that players who end up installing the program for free are eventually directed to a page where they have to pay a steep $29.99 subscription fee for 30 days that ‘promises’ full access to the game, which is not true.

What is even worse is the fact that the terms of service mention that Baldur’s Gate 3 – Mobile Turuk collects user data, which also includes IP addresses. Larian Studios has already dismissed claims that there will be a mobile port for Baldur’s Gate 3, so we advise all iPhone owners reading this to steer clear from the fake version. Also, if it helps, the app listing shows an abysmal 1-star rating.
