Intel's Arrow Lake CPUs have received a major performance boost in Cyberpunk 2077 thanks to a new "Update 2.2" patch.
Cyberpunk 2077's Optimized Threading System Boosts Intel's Arrow Lake CPU Performance By Up To 33%
Yesterday, CDProjektRed rolled out "Update 2.2" for Cyberpunk 2077, a massive patch measuring over 20 Gigs in size. This Update is a commitment to Cyberpunk 2077, a game that has become a major success story after its initial launch. I have spent over 1000 hours in Night City, and with the new patch, there are even more reasons to return to the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
So coming back to the patch, Update 2.2 comes with a few PC-specific optimizations too, which include:
- You will now be able to properly rebind W and S to different actions other than their default settings in the Vehicle category.
- Optimized threading system to improve performance by up to 33% on Intel Arrow Lake based CPUs.
- Added more Razer Chroma effects for some sections in Phantom Liberty and romance scenes.
The most notable update is the new and optimized threading system which the developers claim to offer up to 33% better performance specifically with Intel's Arrow Lake CPUs. Currently, Cyberpunk 2077 is the only game to offer a threading system that can prioritize the P-Cores cores individually, as the option has existed within the game since the last few updates. Although prioritizing P-Cores can sometimes lead to better performance, it isn't always the case. However, the option exists for those who want to try it.
With the new update, CDProjektRed is specifically targeting the Intel Arrow Lake CPUs which were launched last month. Although Intel itself is working on a microcode to further optimize the game performance, the developers behind Cyberpunk 2077 took it into their own hands to see how they can improve Arrow Lake's performance, and it looks like a major boost of up to 33% is now possible, which is quite impressive.
We have yet to try the new patch out ourselves, but if the gains are this big, then that would be great for Arrow Lake users who are playing Cyberpunk 2077. Intel's own fix is expected this month, so stay tuned for that too.
