Earlier in the year, Microsoft confirmed that its latest Windows 10 operating system will continue to receive two major feature upgrades every year. Except for this year, that is. We had pointed to the release frame of the next update, also known as Windows 10 RS2, in Spring 2017. Many suggested that April would be possibly when Microsoft releases Windows 10 Redstone 2 to public. However, latest reports and rumors claim that the update will be released to the public in March, next year.
It is hard to specify the exact time frame for Windows updates, as Microsoft has often delayed its original plans. But, multiple reports and insider sources point to March 2017 as the target release frame for Win10 Redstone 2 launch.
Windows 10 Redstone 2 referenced as "Version 1703"
Twitter user with the handle h0x0d has shared that Windows 10 Redstone 2 is referenced internally as Version 1703. This user is known for several Microsoft-related leaks. The version number 1703 in this tweet refers to the launch year and month of the Windows 10 update. The latest Anniversary Update carries the reference number 1607, released in July 2016; November 2016 Update is referenced as 1511, and so on.

As for the second update for 2017, folks at WindowsCentral claim that the company will release Win10 Redstone 3 in Summer 2017, with a little gap between the two updates. Following this, Microsoft is likely to take a lot of time developing Redstone 4 for 2018 launch.
Windows 10 Redstone 4 is considered as the biggest feature upgrade to come to Windows 10 since its launch. If Microsoft does take a year between the launch of Windows 10 RS3 and RS4, we will likely see some huge changes and updates coming to the operating system.
Windows 10 Redstone 2 is the first of the two major system upgrades expected for 2017. Currently, Windows Insiders are testing various features, improvements, and bug fixes that the company is releasing in regular preview builds. Latest preview builds have started to focus on a better Continuum experience, with the ability to easily switch between a phone, tablet and a PC without disrupting the workflow. Microsoft will release these and several other feature updates and system enhancements to public users in Spring 2017. If the latest rumors are to be believed, you should mark your calendar to deal with the upgrade process in March.
