MSI is creating a new high-end AM5 Mini-ITX offering with its upcoming MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI, with solid specifications.
MSI MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI Will Be A High-End AM5 Motherboard In Mini-ITX Design
MSI's AMD 800-series motherboard lineup currently has no Mini-ITX option, making them lag behind the competition, but that's about to change as the company is preparing a new board, catered towards Mini-ITX builders.
According to the leaked blueprint, the MSI MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI is going to shake things up, offering AM5 builders strong specifications and features, all packed within a Mini-ITX form factor. There's already the full ATX variant of this motherboard featuring the X870 chipset with some great white esthetics that you can check out here.
Starting with the details, the MSI MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI will carry an 8+2+1 phase design with 80A power stages. These will be scattered around the AMD AM5 socket which will carry support for the Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 9000 CPUs along with their X3D variants. The motherboard will feature two DDR5 DIMM slots, so you can expect up to 128 GB capacities and some superb frequency support.
As for the power input, the motherboard will feature a single EPS 8-pin connector and a 24-pin ATX connector. There will be two SATA III ports and two M.2 slots, one Gen5 x4 and one Gen4 x4. The Gen4 slot will be featured on the back of the motherboard while the Gen5 slot will be on the front and will be housed underneath a heatsink. There's a single Gen5 x16 slot on the motherboard, and you can also find various fan headers.
On the IO side, the motherboard will carry support for 5 GbE LAN and WIFI 7 which means that it will offer the best connectivity that you can expect from a Mini-ITX design. Other than that, you can also expect a range of USB ports. Currently, the MSI MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI is planned for a Q2 2025 release alongside more budget options with the PRO series, so stay tuned.
