Guests were not allowed to wear an Apple Watch at a wedding reception

The extrapolated list of features present in an Apple Watch means that apart from being flaunted as a fashion accessory, the smartwatch can be highly useful in a variety of situations. Unfortunately, some are not too fond of this habit and mentioned in a wedding invite that guests were not allowed to wear the device if they attended the function. Either we are looking at some hosts with an antiquated mindset, or they would much rather have Samsung Galaxy smartwatches on their wrists.

Understandably, guests voiced their disapproval over not being able to wear an Apple Watch to a wedding

For whatever reason, a couple mentioned specific details regarding the dress code of their wedding, with a line reading ‘No Apple Watches please.’ As reported by AppleInsider, the invite was given to an X account with the handle @ccmembersonly. While there is no evidence that the invite mentioned this dress code, the individual mentions in the thread that the couple received some complaints from invited guests, which is no surprise. However, some people have agreed with this dress code, as puzzling as that might sound.

One person sporting the handle @NoneYa49637069 responded to the post, saying that it is an old etiquette that requires no watches to be worn at a wedding, and guests that showed up to the reception wearing one would likely receive criticism over their ‘rude behavior.’ Of course, some people wanted to have a little fun at the post, saying that ‘Wearing any watch at a wedding is kind of red flag imo.’ We can only imagine the scathing replies this person would receive.

While we can understand that in older times, the concept of wearing any kind of watch at a wedding could be regarded as an insult, what caught us off-guard was that the invitation specifically mentioned that guests should not be spotted wearing an Apple Watch, hinting that it would be acceptable if any other watch would be strapped to their wrist. Now, if only we could have a single gander at that invite, that would put our minds at ease.
