NVIDIA announced DLSS 4 support for over 100 games, along with Neural Shading features, in April, within the DirectX API.
NVIDIA DLSS 4 Expands To Over 100 Games & Apps In The First Quarter of 2025, More Titles Soon
At GDC 2025, NVIDIA is making some key announcements regarding its software innovations such as DLSS 4 and Neural Shading.
The first one is about DLSS 4, which has now received support within 100+ games and applications. This is a big milestone for the new technology that launched earlier this year with the RTX 50 series graphics cards. With DLSS 4, NVIDIA not only brings MFG support, achieving 4x frame-gen capability, it also comes with better upscaling technology, which leads to superior image quality compared to DLSS 3.

The thing about DLSS 4 is also that it is very easy to migrate from DLSS 3 to the new upscaling API. This allows developers to upgrade to DLSS 4 if their games are already based on the DLSS 3 or 3.x APIs. With the ever-expanding list, NVIDIA is also announcing additional titles which are receiving DLSS 4 support soon, such as:
- Half-Life 2 RTX
- Lost Soul Aside
- Mecha BREAK
- Phantom Blade Zero
- Stellar Blade
- Tides of Annihilation
- Wild Assault
NVIDIA once again shows a comparison which has been highlighted by many tech outlets in the past few weeks. This is to show how the DLSS 4 (Transformer) model performs and looks better than DLSS 3. Even at the performance preset, DLSS 4 looks better than DLSS 3's quality preset & while the Transformer model takes a small performance hit versus the CNN model, it does lead to much better image quality, making it the superior go-to-choice.
Talking about DLSS 4's Driver-level override option and if it compares to a DLSS 4 being integrated directly into the game by the developer, NVIDIA states that they work with game devs and partners to achieve the necessary level of quality (ensuring no issues, bugs or artifacts) when integrating DLSS into the SDK. So assuming that baseline integration is good, then the DLSS 4 override should achieve similar results as a proper DLSS 4 integration.
When asked about whether NVIDIA will bring higher Frame-Generation models (beyond 4x) and support for DLSS 4 MFG (Multi-Frame Generation) on older GPUs such as the RTX 40 series, the company responded that they currently don't have any such plans and for MFG support beyond the 4x mode, the company said they are currently focusing on expanding the list of games that support the 3x/4x modes.
NVIDIA also made a small comment on the black screen and various other issues affecting the RTX 50 GPUs:
Of course we take any report of user bugs very seriously and jump right on it. Current drivers have addressed a number of user bugs and will continue to do so.
Justin Walker - Senior Director of Product Management at GeForce
Lastly, NVIDIA is confirming that they are still working on Smooth Motion technology, but they don't have a release window for it yet.
Neural Shading Support Coming To DirectX API Next Month
Also at CES 2025, NVIDIA announced its new Neural Shading technologies such as RTX Neural Materials and vastly more applications such as textures, materials and radiance caching. These bring small neural networks into programmable shaders to boost performance, or reduce system resources such as memory. The Neural Shader and Neural Compression SDK is already out as part of the NVIDIA RTX kit and today, the green team is announcing support for the tech landing within the DirectX API in April.

The support will be arriving through the Agility SDK Preview. Neural Rendering is a big part of the RTX 50 series graphics cards, & it will be interesting to see how the company works with developers in enhancing the gaming experiences for future titles.
