A new version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Unreal Engine 5 fan remaster is now available for download, allowing users to experience Cyrodiil like never before.
The new version of the unofficial remaster, which can be downloaded from developer Greg Coulthard's official Discord server, features 3000 new enhanced textures that significantly improve the remaster's visuals, as showcased in the video below shared by Digital Dream, the creator of the enhanced textures. While it doesn't feature any gameplay mechanics, this Oblivion unofficial remaster will be more than enough to tide fans of the fourth entry in the series over until the release of the official remake, which shouldn't be too far off in the future.
As mentioned above, the release of the official Oblivion remake is reportedly right around the corner. According to reliable insiders, the game, which has been known to be in the works for a while, will be revealed and released before the end of the month, possibly close to April 21st. Rumored to have been developed by Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5, this yet-to-be-revealed remake is said to pack plenty of gameplay enhancements besides obvious visual improvements.
While it hasn't aged terribly well, the original The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is still a more than worthy role-playing game. As far as modern gaming platforms are concerned, the game is only playable on PC, as it has never been released on consoles other than PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, though supposedly that will change soon with the release of the remake.
