Pixel Watch 3 goes official

The Made by Google event is packed with major hardware announcements that users and the tech community have long awaited. While the event seems to be revolving around the Pixel 9 lineup and the upgrades coming to it, that is not the only noteworthy announcement the company made. The Google Pixel Watch 3 was launched alongside and is the next slate in the wearable. The smartwatch is packed up with a new display and smaller bezels and is launched in two sizes.

Pixel Watch 3 has just been launched with UWB support, 45mm case, and display upgrades

Prior to the event, speculations regarding the new Pixel Watch 3 had already revealed some major specifications of the wearable, leaving little for the imagination. With the keynote finally announcing the new smartwatch, all the leaks and reports seem to stand true, and the wearable is bringing some major improvements from its predecessor.

The first thing you notice about the Pixel Watch 3 is the size variants: It is now available in 41mm and 45mm, respectively. While the design does not mark any major changes from the previous model except maybe smoother edges, we are excited about the smartwatch's color options, which include blue, pink, and teal green.

The biggest upgrade, however, this time around is the massive improvements in the display, which not only mark a bigger size option that is double the size of the previous version but also improved brightness that goes up to 2,000 nits for better visual experience and more clarity. The bezels have been shrunk noticeably, especially on the 45mm variant, making it aesthetically more appealing by going down from 5.5mm to 4.5mm.

The Pixel Watch 3 is also packed with a battery life that extends up to 24 hours of usage and can give 36 hours of support on a single charge with the battery-saving mode. It comes with a faster charging speed than its predecessor, reducing the need to continuously charge the device.

With the incorporation of 5 GHz Wi-Fi technology for the new wearable, data transmission would significantly improve due to more stability and reduced congestion. The long-awaited UWB support has finally made it to the Pixel Watch 3 and would pave the way for the Watch lock advancement users have long sought.

The new display has a 60Hz refresh rate, a huge jump from the previous model's 30Hz refresh rate. This promises a more visually fluid and responsive experience. The previous version had the same 2GB of RAM and 32GB of flash storage, so there was no major upgrade in the storage capacity.

The Pixel Watch 3 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 chipset and the Cortex M33 co-processor. Although it does not account for performance gains from its predecessor, users look forward to the larger display and trimmed bezels on the new wearable. The Pixel Watch 3 marks the deepest integration so far with Google and Pixel and is packed with new capabilities to help you keep track of your health and fitness.

The new Cardio Load Feature will let you know when you should rest or push yourself to work based on the physical strain. A Morning Brief will also be added to summarize all the information daily.

Google also claims to be pioneering a new feature called loss of pulse detection, which will see if someone missed a pulse or their heart stopped moving to prompt an emergency situation. This feature could be of great utility to users with chronic conditions. The 41mm model would start at $349, and the 45mm model starts at $399 and is available for pre-order starting today.
