[Original story] The date for the rumored upcoming Xbox showcase is said to be announced shortly, perhaps as soon as within an hour from now.
Last week we reported on a rumor that claimed that Microsoft is gearing up for a new Xbox Developer Direct for mid-January. Since then, various outlets and insiders have corroborated on this rumor. Not only that but on the Resetera forums, Xbox insider Kobrille has said to have heard about the Developer Direct format being refreshed. In addition, the insider writes that several first-party titles from Microsoft will be shown, and the showcase is said to be even better than previous showcases. Of course, the latter is rather subjective, but we're pretty sure that Xbox fans will appreciate this 'information'.
"Much better things to talk about very soon", Xbox insider Klobrille said on the Resetera forums in a thread about Xbox Game Studios. When asked about the date of the showcase, the insider replied that the show will air closer to the 14th of January instead of the 25th. "The former, I think", he said. "I also think this one has the potential to be even better than last year's [Developer Direct]. And I rated that 9/10."
As covered earlier, fans are hoping for another shadow drop like last year's Hi-Fi Rush, but Klobrille has expressed to be more excited about the new "refreshing" format alongside the games that are being shown, which are said to be various first-party titles.
"I don't know about a shadow drop. I'm more coming at it from the games that are being shown, plus the format itself being refreshing."
He added, "My excitement comes from several first-party games having a presence."
On X, another Xbox insider, 'Idle Sloth', posted that the Xbox Developer Direct will be announced in in "30 mins" from now. Additionally, he posted that the Direct will take place on Thursday, January 18th, which is a little more than a week from now.
