Netac Z RGB 32 GB DDR5-6200 CL32 Memory Review: Glossy Premium Finish

Hassan Mujtaba

The DDR5 memory segment has been seeing a lot of action as it gets standardized across all PC platforms. With memory prices dropping and the latest platforms becoming affordable, memory makers are offering new solutions all the time with some focusing on high-end specifications. In contrast, others focus on strengthening their gaming product portfolios.

One such manufacturer is Netac, which offers a wide range of memory products, whether memory kits or storage solutions such as SSDs. The company offers its DDR5 memory modules in five segments which are all focused on the gaming segment. The top of their lineup is the Z RGB DDR5 series and we were lucky to get a hand on their flagship product which looks and feels very premium.

As such, we were presented with Netac's latest Z RGB DDR5-6200 memory kit which comes in 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) modules.

Netac Z RGB 32 GB DDR5-6200 Memory Kit Specifications

The Netac Z RGB 32 GB DDR5 memory kit is a very premium and high-end offering. This kit comes in speeds starting at DDR5-6000 and going all the way up to DDR5-8000. The kit I received is optimized at a clock speed of 6200 MT/s (PC5-49600). The memory kit consists of dual 16 GB DIMMs which make up a total of 32 GB in capacity.

The memory kit has a tested latency spec of CL32 and the timings are 32-38-38-96 for this specific kit. The voltage is set at 1.35 and the memory kit comes in an unbuffered package with an on-die ECC (Error Correction) design. The memory is currently only compliant with Intel XMP & 700-series motherboards.

  • Adjustable RGB lighting effects
  • 32 Bank with x4/x8 / 16 Bank with x16
  • 8 BG(Bank Group) for X4/X8/X16 configurations
  • BL16, BC8 OTF, BL32, BL32 OTF supported
  • Same Bank Refresh
  • Input Clock Frequency Change
  • Multi-Purpose Command (MPC)
  • Per DRAM Addressability (PDA)
  • Connectivity Test (CT) / ZQ Calibration
  • DFE (Decision Feedback Equalization) for DQ
  • DQS Interval Oscillator
  • On-Die ECC
  • CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check)
  • Package Output Driver Test Mode
  • PCB: Height 1.23” (31.25mm)
  • RoHS Compliant and Halogen-Fre

For the design, Netac has gone with a very premium heatsink design which is large and comes with a shiny and reflective shroud. The design reminds me of the G.Skill TeamGroup Royal and V-Color Manta-X series which have a similar reflective texture and looks very nice. It also comes with an RGB diffuser on the top which makes it a very tall module. The module is compliant with all of the latest RGB-Sync software and technologies.

Netac Z RGB 32 GB DDR5-6200 Memory Kit Unboxing and Close-Up

The Netac Z RGB memory kit is packaged within a standard cardboard box with a picture of the memory on the front along with the respective capacity and speeds.

The back of the package lists the various features of the Netac Z RGB DDR5 memory kits and the respective timings can also be seen along with the serial codes. The packaging also includes a fiber cloth to clean the memory sticks since its glossy design makes it a fingerprint magnet.

Out of the box, you are greeted with a very premium design which I have been mentioning throughout this post. The silver glossy shroud gives off a very high-end feeling and each DDR5 module has quite a heft to it which shows that the heatsink means business.

The heatsink also has a large "Z" carved on it which is part of the Z RGB DDR5 branding and looks great when light bounces off of it. You can also find the DDR5 Z and Netac logos on the heatsink & the diffuser.

The modules are a bit tall, measuring 50.9 mm in height which should be something to keep in mind when using air coolers. The rest of the modules measure 133.4mm x 8.3mm. The benefit of this larger heatsink is that the can sustain heavy loads as these modules are rated at a rather high 1.35V out of the box.

The diffuser comes with this small and hardly noticeable Netac logo which is a nice touch.

The back of each module lists the specifications including the memory capacity, memory timings, and memory clocks.

If I have to talk about how the design feels overall, I would say it is definitely up there as one of the most good looking memory kits on the market right now so let's get on with the performance.

Intel Z790 Test Setup

For testing, I used the latest Intel Core i9 14900K processor along with the MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX motherboard which can support higher frequencies memory but even high-end motherboards like these require a bit of tuning to get the modules to work at their rated XMP speeds.

Super PI is used by many overclockers to test the performance and stability of their computers. In the overclocking community, the standard program provides a benchmark for enthusiasts to compare “world record” pi calculation times and demonstrate their overclocking abilities. The program can also be used to test the stability of a certain overclock speed.

Gaming Performance Tests

Gaming applications generally don't see huge gains with different memory kits but DDR5 has enabled a huge gain in memory frequency which can impact gaming performance. Moving from the stock 2133 Mbps (DDR4) to 6000+ Mbps can have a huge effect on performance and the improved CAS timings on some of the high-end SKUs can result in better overall FPS and system responsiveness.

Conclusion - Hynix M-Die With A Style

Netac's Z RGB DDR5 series is a very strong offering from the manufacturer, offering an awesome design and solid performance. The base speeds aren't anything to boast about since we have been testing DDR5-8200 memory kits recently but DDR5-6200 is where you'd see most mainstream PCs to settle for.

Underneath the hood of the Z RGB kits are the latest SK hynix M-Die which are great for OC and tuning purposes. These can be manually tuned for even better performance and that's great since most current-gen platforms, motherboards, and BIOS support high-speed kits without any major hiccups. The DDR5-6200 speeds are also around the sweet spot for AMD's newly released Ryzen 8000G APUs so if you want to build a PC around that platform with a touch of style, then the Netac Z series is a very viable option.

The heatsink it comes with is tall and does a great job at keeping things cool with thermal pads across the DRAM ICs and the PMIC. The diffuser on the top looks great and while it leads to the slightly taller height, it does support a wide range of RGB software allowing users to customize their lighting preferences.

As of right now, the Netac Z RGB DDR5-6200 CL32 (32 GB) memory kit is priced around $100 US and that makes it a very decently priced kit given its design and specs. While the kit comes with a single XMP profile, I believe that modern AMD and Intel platforms won't have lots of trouble when running this kit. We want to see Netac expand its memory profiles for its DDR5 memory kits with more XMP and EXPO options. Overall, the Netac Z RGB DDR5 series is a great option for new PC builders at their price point and we can't wait to test out even faster kits under this lineup.

Deal of the Day
