The unreleased RTX 5090D from GALAX has broken the records of the more powerful RTX 5090 GPU, thanks to its extraordinary design.
GALAX RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB is Powered by Dual 12V-2x6 Connectors: Outperforms Regular RTX 5090 in Multiple 3DMark Tests
It's usual to see the flagship GPU at the top of the charts, but it's a rare sight to see what appears to be an inferior card still claiming the top positions. NVIDIA's RTX 5090 is the fastest GeForce gaming GPU on the planet and no one can deny its superiority in gaming and synthetic benchmarks, but its RTX 5090D, which is a Chinese-exclusive variant, is equally strong except for the reduced AI capabilities.
The RTX 5090D is technically an RTX 5090 in specifications and while one would expect the latter to be faster in every situation, the recent synthetic benchmarks reveal something unusual. Enthusiasts such as OGS and Rauf have been competing fiercely to stand at the top of the charts and both have been using a special edition of the RTX 5090D, which isn't yet publically available.

It's the GALAX RTX 5090D HOF (Hall of Fame) OC LAB edition and if you are familiar with HOF cards from GALAX, you might be aware of their capabilities. These cards are designed for enthusiast overclockers and find their way into the hands of professional overclockers before release. This is what we are seeing here as well, and both the overclockers were able to hit massive clocks, touching 3.5 GHz in some cases (Over 1GHz over default boost).
The RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB shows that it's the king of 3DMark synthetic tests, including Fire Strike Extreme, Time Spy Extreme, and many others. Both overclockers have claimed the first and second positions in their respective tests, taking a slight lead over the regular RTX 5090. The RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB is apparently the only card that brings dual 12-pin power connectors. While the regular RTX 5090 and RTX 5090D need only a single 12V-2x6 connector, the RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB is designed to feed on up to 1000W.
This is certainly not possible via a single 12V-2x6 connector that can only supply up to 600W. Since the RTX 5090D HOF OC can easily exceed 600W with minimal overclocking, its custom design helps it to hit higher scores by feeding on higher power. Of course, the world-record high scores achieved by these overclockers were a result of Liquid Nitrogen cooling, but so were the others. Enthusiasts have used LN on regular RTX 5090s too, but they are still limited due to power constraints.
