Still sad over seeing Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 leaving the shelves? While the device may have been prone to getting too hot to handle, Samsung is not letting its software go to waste. The company has decided to offer the latest software to the owners of Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung rolls out Galaxy Note 7 software update for Note 5
Samsung has started to release the update for the Korea Telecom variant of the Galaxy Note 5. It is unknown whether the company will offer the software upgrade to those out of South Korea. Remember, this updated experience doesn't offer Nougat, it simply adds the Grace user interface - which was debuted with the Galaxy Note 7 - on the Galaxy Note 5.
Grace UX is still based on Marshmallow for Note 5 but offers new features like Wide Selfie, Blue Light Filter, Ultra Power Saving Mode, and Smart Manager among others. The Galaxy Note 7 software layer looks way cleaner than previous iterations of Touch Wiz, and now Note 5 users can experience it too. Samsung is expected to push the update to other regions as well. If that happens, Galaxy Note 5 will remain a solid option for those looking for cheaper Note device, with Note 5 going for $300 and less.
The software update also adds stability improvements and regular bug fixes. If you are in South Korea, go to your device Settings > About Device > Software Update > Update Now to upgrade to the latest software offering.
