Galaxy G Fold will not be revealed alongside the Galaxy Z lineup, claims tipster

A previous report might have had nearly everyone excited that Samsung would soon be announcing a direct competitor to the Huawei Mate XT, with an earlier rumor mentioning that the device would be called the Galaxy G Fold. While those estimates clamored that the Korean giant’s first tri-fold smartphone would be announced in the third quarter of 2025, one tipster has to be the bearer of bad news for the public. The Galaxy G Fold, which was previously expected to be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, will not be joining the stage with Samsung’s two flagship foldable smartphones, with the company showcasing it later.

The Galaxy G Fold may only receive a teaser trailer later this year, as Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone launch is still uncertain, according to the latest update

The update was provided by Max Jambor, who has a solid history of sharing accurate information about Samsung’s and OnePlus’ product launches. On X, he does not confirm if the upcoming tri-fold smartphone will be called the Galaxy G Fold but clarifies that the device will not launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7. If you thought this was bad news, the tipster also mentioned that there would not be an official announcement during Samsung’s second Unpacked event, but there is the possibility of a teaser.

To remind you, the Korean conglomerate offered a first look at its Galaxy XR headset codenamed ‘Project Moohan’ shortly after concluding the Galaxy S25 announcement, where members of the press and content creators could snap pictures, but they were not allowed to play with it or test out its features. Apparently, a teaser may only involve the media bearing witness to a product clip that will be a few seconds in length, with the actual Galaxy G Fold arriving much later.

Scrolling down the X thread, we notice that another individual has responded to Max Jambor, stating that the tri-fold smartphone’s launch will happen in late 2026, with mass production seemingly commencing in August of next year. There is no confirmation of how the individual got a hold of this information, but to get people excited, we can expect Samsung to throw the audience a small bone during its second Unpacked event. After all, there has to be something to challenge the Mate XT.
