Paradox Interactive and The Chinese Room have unveiled the first gameplay trailer of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, showing what to expect with the long-awaited action RPG sequel.
The trailer starts with the spotlight being taken by the main character, Phyre. The developers have picked the Brujah Kindred (one of four options available to players) for this playthrough. The character hijacks an abandoned warehouse at the start of the trailer in order to find clues about the marks on her hands. Amidst all this, Phyre suddenly starts combating enemies and leverages her vampire abilities, including telekinesis, to knock back enemies and move environmental objects.

Here is how Alex Skidmore, creative director at The Chinese Room on Bloodlines 2, describes the gameplay:
The gameplay and action of Bloodlines 2 is sort of a dance. As players explore the world, soak in the atmosphere and make strategic choices, they affect their relationships with the characters around them. Players can choose their legend, but the world is dynamic, and characters will remember how you treat them.
There is a bit of a difference with the new Bloodlines 2 story, since in the original premise, players would be a 'thin-blood', one of a number of humans turned into vampires in a Mass Embrace incident. In the new version in development at The Chinese Room, players will take the role of an Elder vampire. Since Phyre has been in forced slumber for a century or so, players will be able to play with her legendary reputation, either giving in to the rumors or changing the narrative as it suits them.
If the trailer isn't enough for you, the developers have also prepared a much longer extended gameplay reveal where they go over the various sections demonstrated today.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be released this Fall for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, it will take advantage of its Lumen, Nanite, and Virtual Shadow Maps technologies to render Seattle.
