Leading graphics card manufacturer, XFX has started working on a custom model of the newly released HD 7970 GHz edition card which is based on the 28nm Tahiti XT2 core.

The new HD 7970 GHz Edition from XFX features improvement in power consumption and offers better control of  the chip leakage. The newly added Boost feature allows for dynamic clock adjustment when the GPU comes under full load.

Core clock and memory runs at 1000/1500MHz while Boost clock is configured at 1050MHz. Overclocking upto 1300MHz is easily possible considering XFX added their top of the line double dissipation heatsink over the PCB which includes two 90mm fans throwing air towards the vapor chamber which conveys heat to the large aluminum fin array.

Launch date isn't confirmed though price would be somewhat near the other 7970 GHz models from various manufacturers.
